The White House Gallery on 26th August 2009, wasn’t relying on only the art to attract nearly 300 guests, it was relying on an exquisite and elite fashion show by Chereen Anderson. MC for the evening was Live Out Loud director, Mike Eilertsen. “Lights, camera, action!” signalled the start of the evening.
The models walked out, the guests were amazed and the runway was lit up by bright flashes from the photographers’ cameras. The models were gorgeous, but there were no words to describe the amazing dresses. Chereen did a spectacular job and the night was enjoyed by all who attended. A painting from the gallery and a dress, made by Chereen, were auctioned off on the evening, in aid of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women and the Selwyn Segal home for the (Jewish) handicapped.
When the show finally came to end, the White House Gallery was open for guests to admire the brilliance behind the art work. Definitely an evening to be remembered.
A night of fine wines, whiskies and other drinks was enjoyed by all at the launch of Erasmus Inc Attorneys. The exclusive Delaire Graff Estate in the historic and picturesque town of Stellenbosch provided the perfect location for guests to mix and mingle. Some of the VIPs in attendance were: Michelle Mclean, Andre Markgraaff, Willem De Waal, Peter Grant and Jannie Mouton. Premium whisky brands, like Singleton added the final touch to an already exemplary affair. Gift bags containing Live Out Loud magazines and Delaire wines would allow guests to recall the event in the days and weeks ahead.
There was much rubbing of elbows but also some lifting of them, at Live Out Loud’s tasting evening, hosted by Oil & Vinegar at Cedar Square.
Guests sampled plump olives soaked in citrus infusions, luxurious balsamic vinegars and a magical pomegranate reduction – some of the finer things in life.
Jets and Jewels, as its name suggests, was an opulent and glamorous affair hosted by Live Out Loud and Execujet at Lanseria Airport.
Frequent flyers familiar with the venue immediately noticed the décor with which the Execujet offices and hangars were adorned. The entrance to the venue was marked by a Lamborghini and Ferrari, parked facing each other – almost as if they were engaged in conversation. Guests included the who’s who of the South African business community and social scene, hardly surprising of the calibre of events for which Live Out Loud has become known. Representatives from sponsor companies like Bombardier and Investec were among the distinguished guests.
A string quartet provided the music backdrop, followed by the beguiling melodies of Love More Music’s grand piano. Furniture, provided by Bakos Brothers, added to the venue’s chic appeal. An array of luxury cars, including Rolls-Royces, Aston Martins and Maseratis complemented the visual effect of the Bombardier jet that was open to all visitors.
Well-known television personality, Colin Moss was the compère for the evening. His ever-present charm set the standard for the event’s key speakers, Michael Eilertsen, the director of Live Out Loud magazine and Etti Poggi CEO of Execujet.
The evening’s entertainment continued with an aerial silk act by Barbara, the performer who lived up to her company’s name: B-Active. Then came the highly-anticipated fashion show choreographed by Tulani from Brand Ambassadors which showcased a selection of the latest designs from big names in fashion like Hugo, Boss, Armani and Lacoste. The models’ hair and make up was provided by Gorgeous and Tanaz. It was during the fashion show that the brilliance of Multimedia Staging and Limelight Design’s chandeliers were most evident.
The catwalk, however, was not the only place where sartorial elegance was evident. The ladies from Live Out Loud showed off their beautiful Chereen Anderson dresses as they mingled with the crowd.
All guests were entered into a lucky draw. The fortunate winners walked away with amazing prizes that included: a weekend at Legends Golf Course, a diamond from Arthur Kaplan jewelers, a trip to Lion Sands Private Game Reserve and Diamante Champagne. No one was left empty handed. On departure all visitors received a collection of Amouage perfumes and vouchers from Tanaz and Gorgeous.
Many decided to linger a little longer, taking advantage of fine cuisine by Franz Catering and an array of SAB beers and premium drink brands like, Benguela Cove wines and Brandhouse whiskies. The concoctions provided by Barcode Cocktails were also most welcome.
During the evening’s indulgence it was reassuring to know that a trip to the bathroom would be made all the more pleasant by the ample provision of Chrysalis bathroom products.
The event ran with the precision of a well-oiled machine thanks to the involvement of, among others, Propstars, Helivac and Coin Security. It was indeed a night to remember.
Live Out Loud’s recent Cape Town media bash was held at the luxurious Villa Zest Boutique Hotel in Green Point. The evening, themed retro-glam, saw the likes of Marcus Brewster, CEO of Marcus Brewster Publicity, and winner of the SA Blog of the Year 2009 award, and 2oceansvibe editor, Seth Rotherham, on the VIP guest list.
While most were not inspired to don anything related to the theme, some indulged in headbands, stripy suits, glamorous hairdos and fancy dresses. This added a hint of nostalgia and intrigue that was complemented by the choice of entertainment.
Ricky Botsis added a cabaret-like feel to his performance as he moved through the crowd singing songs from the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival and other popular bands of yesteryear. Idol’s star, Graeme Watkins made a guest appearance.
Among the better-known guests was Top Billing presenter, Janez Vermeiren; Dan Nicholl, editor and sports MC personality; SA model, Lisa Cowley; and ex-international model, Samantha Ann Pegg.
Colin Moss, who arrived fashionably late, added his usual wit and charm to the night’s proceedings. The luxury giveaways presented by Moss included a two-day stay at the Villa Zest for two, a lesson in helicopter flying courtesy of Heli, a pair of stylish sunglasses from Extreme Eyewear, and various other valuable prizes.
Not everyone won a prize but all went home with the memory of a night well spent and a sense of growing excitement in anticipation of the next Live Out Loud event.
Live Out Loud’s latest Cape Town event took place on 23 July at Wembly Square, Centre court. It was there that the movers and shakers of the Mother City’s social and business scene met to compete in a variety of Casino Games. Among others, these included Roulette and Texas Hold’em Poker. Those unlucky on the night might have adopted the attitude of Jonathan Swift, who said of poker, “I must complain the cards are ill shuffled till I have a good hand.” Nevertheless unlike in real casinos even the unlucky could be considered winners as they were still able to enjoy an evening of elegance in fine company. Some of the evenings many prizes included: Gentleman Jack Hampers, Gucci sunglasses from Extreme eyewear and a one night’s stay at the Cape Royale.
